Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage features text commentary of the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking in those games was the amount of penalties each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against Denver, who play in London this Sunday.

However it proved positive to see that Denver's QB the rookie was able to have that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

Denver boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending extra pass rushers instead they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on of the season, we said on a program that Denver might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big and new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable situations.

This has benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he is so athletic.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the area downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you through difficult moments and boost confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key is is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges on what version of the Chiefs they face since Denver {beat|def
