The Red Devils Poised to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.

A Major Acquisition for United

The forward, with half a year left on her contract, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing is viewed as a major signing for the WSL team.

Her exit from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.

Reliable Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line

The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. She has been highly consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

  • Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
  • She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Building Momentum at Old Trafford

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club appear to be building momentum.

Their recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the winter break has seen further activity:

  1. The acquisition of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.

On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official commented: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”

The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
