President Trump Calls Relatives of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.
Presidential Invitation
The president said he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of her alma mater, told the media. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to help others.”
Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Legal Steps and Government Adjustments
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
