Outrage as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the building supervising the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but fell down a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the attack.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the crime scene.
Call for Public Assistance
Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been tracking them to determine their destination," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the public to avoid sharing graphic images from the scene, noting this was an deeply traumatic time, above all for Stock's young family.

A cabinet official said he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's killing.
"He expressed his views without fear or favour. He even challenged me and my actions as a minister. He was a shining model of who we should be," the minister added.
A party figurehead stated the "brazen murder of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a shock for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director noted that "DJ Warras was far beyond a TV personality. He was a gifted communicator, a passionate music lover and a generous spirit who brought joy and energy to every moment on screen. His artistic passion left an lasting impression."
In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, approachability and quick humor, adding that his legacy "will endure".
