Fighters smirk as they move on the bed of a pick-up truck, speeding past a line of several lifeless forms and driving facing the descending African sunset.

"Observe this extensive work. Look at this instance of mass destruction," one shouts.

He smiles as he turns the video equipment on his own face and his fellow combatants, their RSF badges clearly shown: "These people shall all die this way."

These individuals are exulting in a mass killing that aid workers believe killed over two thousand civilians in the Sudan's city of al-Fashir during October.

A Community Severed from the Outside

After maintaining the community under blockade for nearly an extended period, from late summer the militia proceeded to consolidate its control and prevent access for the leftover residents.

Space-based imagery reveal that troops started to build a enormous earth barrier - a raised earthen wall - around the boundaries of el-Fasher, sealing off entry points and halting relief supplies.

During the encirclement escalated, multiple people were slain in an RSF strike on a religious building on September 19th, while the United Nations said dozens more were slain in drone and cannon bombardments on a displacement camp in the autumn.

Graphic Recording Depicts Weaponless People Gunned Down

By sunrise on 26 October the paramilitary force conquered the final military strongholds and seized the main compound in the community, the headquarters of the Army Division, as the army pulled back.

Perhaps the most graphic recordings to appear and studied depicted the results of a massacre at a university building on the west of the community, where numerous lifeless forms were observed scattered throughout the ground.

An elderly person dressed in a traditional garment sat isolated amid the bodies. He turned to gaze as a militiaman armed with a weapon moved descending the staircase facing the individual. lifting his weapon, the shooter discharged a single bullet at the victim, who dropped to the surface motionless.

"For what reason is this person still living," a militiaman exclaimed. "Execute this one."

Satellite images captured on 26 October indicated to substantiate that killings were also conducted on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, based on a report published by the university analysis team.

A key eyewitness who spoke reported the individual had witnessed "many of our relatives being executed - the victims were gathered in a specific area and all eliminated."

Paramilitary Leaders Try to Conduct Reputation Management

During the period that followed the massacre, militia commander conceded that his fighters had carried out "wrongdoings" and stated the events would be examined.

Among those detained was after a investigation detailing his executions. Meticulously choreographed and modified footage shared on the militia's official Telegram account depict the individual being taken into a prison room at a prison on the perimeter of al-Fashir.

Meanwhile, the militia and associated social media accounts commenced attempting to reshape the account.

Posts presenting its fighters distributing assistance to civilians were circulated by several users, while the militia's media office released multiple clips purporting to demonstrate the humane handling of government detainees.

In spite of the digital effort being employed by the paramilitary, their conduct in el-Fasher have sparked worldwide outrage.
