Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.
For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was still Forest coach.
So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to get Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.
But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
