Followers Demand Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who breached a barricade and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was due to attend court on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Many supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another comment on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande looked shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected bond between two very different witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
